Program Expansion Set for 2013

Wow!  What a year this has been.  The Genesys Works program reached new heights in 2012–a
record number of students trained and employed, a significant increase in the number of companies providing meaningful internships to our young professionals, and our highest levels of financial support from donors–allowing us to help hundreds of students from low-income backgrounds on a path towards college and career success.  The many stories of student success and achievement we could share from the past year would not have been possible without the help of the many partners with whom we work in the Twin Cities.  Our valued school partners.  Our corporate clients.  Our funders.  The work we do together to close the Opportunity Divide is of great importance and we look forward to achieving even greater levels of community impact in the year to come.

And thanks to a recent gift from the Otto Bremer Foundation, we can now begin expanding the breadth and depth of our Genesys Works programming in 2013 to not only serve more students in need, but serve them better.  The Bremer funding will allow us to begin three new program initiatives including: a new Business Operations curriculum and internship track; a College Success initiative to ensure that our program graduates not only enroll in college after high school, but graduate from college; and a new “pipeline” initiative that will engage with students earlier in their high school years (10th – 11th grades) than our current senior year programming allows.  We are excited to develop these new program initiatives as we believe they will greatly expand student opportunity and achievement.

Yes, 2012 has been a great year, but the best is yet to come.  We look forward with great anticipation to a new year filled with opportunity and promise.  Working together, we know we can build a stronger Twin Cities community providing economic opportunity for all.

Happy holidays and best wishes for a joyous New Year!
